Raffmetal S.p.A. - leghe di alluminio in colata continua

Production Process Quality

Raffmetal produces a variety of aluminium alloys in bars or in a molten state, delivered in specially designed transport ladles that pour the metal straight into the furnace ready for final forging. This is an undoubted advantage in terms of saving in melting time and power consumption. The aluminium scrap recycling process starts with the very important stage of rigorous selection to eliminate undesired components, such as tailing and iron.

The result is a raw material with an excellent yield and quality thanks to the use of high-tech shredding, drying and flotation plant. Metals such as copper, iron, bronze, brass and other metals, which would otherwise get lost, can easily be recovered.

After sorting, the material is fed automatically into a rotary furnace and melted down under salt, in a mixture of sodium chloride to prevent oxidation.

When the molten metal is ready to move in to the holding furnaces, it undergoes a corrective treatment including degassing, surface cleaning and filtration.

When it meets the quality specification, the metal is convoyed to the continuous casting plant from which it comes out in the form of bars.
